Birmingham is a cultural hub that has focused on promoting its creative industries and prospered from it.

Nearly 1 in 5 Alabama residents live in the Birmingham metro area.

The third largest industry in the Birmingham metro area is the creative industry.

The arts and culture industry in Jefferson County generates $234.9 million annually.

I set out to create a space that would stimulate creativity and allow people to fully realize their creativity, starting with identifying a building and absorbing its character.

 

The building itself held a lot of the characteristics I wanted to capture in creating this positive space - both of Birmingham and budding creativity.

Brainstorming led me to three key areas of focus that I felt would interest the community and lead to their investment in curating a creative spark.

For start-up and mobile chefs, the kitchen will allow for collaboration and partnerships, further stimulating creativity.

Beginner tech users and freelance designers are given access to resources and a community for collaboration.

By integrating these communities together and opening them to the public, a creative community is given space to flourish.
